nothing story-wise, per say. although i did just get back from my weekend in SF for PRIDE!!
i had a blast with my friends, we saw the first performance ever in the US of BoA. she's pretty much fantastic and crazy. off to SF again this week, hopefully to continue the search for an apartment and then again on friday for a beach party with my GSA network!

hopefully going to SF before my friend moves back to davis next weekend, only to return again the weekend after for my monthly Youth Council meeting (which hopefully i'll get to stay another night with my friends b/c i get monday off!)

also on my mind: finding an apartment. luckily we've got another roommate (so three total), so there'll be more options of two bedrooms :)

oh boy. my weekend.
this is a really embarrassing story...
i go to SFSU on saturday to take my math placement test that will let me know what math class i can sign up for during orientation.
my dad drove me down there, along with my little bro and everything goes as planned.

until.
i find out that i don't have my picture ID on me. which basically means i can't take the test.

yeah. epic fail.
so now i'm going to be taking it in june at SacState (which is definitely easier to get to). good thing i wasn't planning on taking a math my first semester.

the rest of my weekend was definitley not this exciting, mostly involving my family from SanDiego visiting (!) and working.

I'm SOOO ready for this next weekend though!
PROM. not really the prom part. it just means Kyle is visiting. and that's all that matters. oh, and WHOLE EARTH FESTIVAL. it's exciting.

did my monthly tour of San Fran today...although i decided to mix it up and go to the Castro instead of UnionSquare. Besides that i needed to get a rainbow flag for my club at school, i though i should go because i hadn't been there in a while. Little did i know (although i should have guessed) that all the stores didn't really open till 11:30...i got there at 10. With no one to sit with, i walked aimlessly for a good portion of the morning, trying to find somewhere to pee. *side note: i didn't know you needed to be 21+ to pee at a bar*

anyways, I eventually found some people i knew (randomly) and was able to talk with them for a bit. We're in the same youth council, so we had arrived early to wait for the meeting to start. We all got pizza, and finally, i was able to get the flag!

anyways, it was nice to be there. definitely a completely different atmosphere there than anywhere else. quite comforting.

i just bought an old[er] CD of one of my favourite artists: M.I.A.!
i got her newest album, Kala, a couple months ago and besides it being phenominal, i enjoyed blasting it in my room...when no one was there of course.
i had a couple of her other songs from the older album, but they weren't in very good quality, so i decided to purchase it: so far? JUST AS GOOD

also, i think i've found my new fashion magazine. V Magazine is pretty amazing. I was already introduced to their men's version, VMan, and i decided to go to the next level. V Magazine is about the size of W (large format) but way better. Because it doesn't come out once a month, they are packed with amazing shoots, amazing clothes and a much better visual experience for visual people (comme moi)

i had a blast in SF on saturday with my friend allie attending probably one of the best festivals i've ever been too!!

it's called LOOKBOOK.nu

it's basically a collection of people that post outfits that they've created or designed (strictly on themselves). it's really cool to see other people's personal style as well as their comments on others' and what they like. you must apply to get in (although you don't have to submit anything) and once you get in, you can upload pictures of youself. as a newbe, you pictures are reviewed and if accepted by 10 overseers (and liked) it's published on the actual website for the entire site to see! you can get "hyped" which just lets others know what you like and there's options of commenting and following your favorite people!
you can still view the site without being a member, you just can't comment :/

but i got in! and i think this will be lots of fun! and very inspiring...

my friend chandler and i took the train down to SanFrancisco yesterday! it was lots of fun, we went shopping, eating, laughing and all sorts of good things lol
i bought a really vivid orange button-up shirt (complete with épulés and sleeve details) and a hot black skinny tie!! we hit all sorts of stores; H&M, Forever21, UrbanOutfitters, Anthropologie (for her) and Diesel!
we ate a very european lunch and continued on our fabulous day

i was called upon a friend of whitney's sister to arrive at whitney's house to do a shoot today (i was asked about 11.30p the night before)

so last saturday
i went to Sac to an open house for the Academy of Art in SanFrancisco (yes i was in Sac for a school in SF)
but i think it went really well
it's a great program and seems like it's very challenging and rigerous but definitely rewarding in the end. i brought my portfolio for some review by alumni and other staff and it was recieved quite nicely. they said that i had skills that many people don't even have when they go to the school and skills that people really struggle with throughout the year(s).
the only thing that's kinda a killer is that it's pretty expensive
but they have scholorships and grant opprotunities as well as Financial Aid
so that's really good!

so the next day after my Rock shoot
i was summoned by another good friend of mine Britt[any] to do a shoot for her portfolio that she'll be sending off to Vogue!
she wanted to show ranger in her work, so for this shoot she decided to do an ad campaign. for Chanel. YESSSS

so i wake up early [again] and meet her downtown where we elegantly (cause we where both dressed extreamly nicely) strolled through Davis downtown in search of a good allyway. we first went to the ally behind Peet's and FiveFigs, but the lighting at 8:30 wasn't to good. i suggested that we'd try the ally behind Woodstock and we went to check it out. see for yourself:

the first photoshoot that i did was with one of my besties Whitney. she's prettymuch amazing and had a very intriguing idea for this shoot. she's very into the old Rock&Roll songs of yore and decided to set up a backdrop where her, myself, her sister and her sister's friend would all pose and hold up signs with lyrics of songs painted on them. i had a lot of fun doing these and they look amazing! (there's much much more, but i'm going to put on the ones i like best lol)

so basically i feel extreamly liberated and happy for the fact that i don't have to pay $81 for 'loosing' a textbook of mine! long story short, i had a book that i thought was mine (of course it's the seconded most expensive one) and somehow it got switched with someone else's. so when i go to turn in my textbook they tell me it's not mine...hmmmm...are you sure? they're positive. sucks, i was supposed to go pay $81 for it if no one turned it in by the end of next week, that is, if i want my report card on time (which i definitely do, i've been busting my a*s for the past couple of weeks).
but THANK GOD that this is all cleared up now. that would've made a really nice shopping trip, but now i guess i get to save it. lol WOOOP!

i really don't enjoy being marginalized. today was the BloodSource blood drive at our school and, like any caring human i felt the donation of my AB blood appropriate. little did i know (well i guess i did, but not for sure) that as an openly gay man, they wont accept my blood. now before your head explodes and jump to your feet in protest like i did, one has to remember that it's not excluding gay men as a rule, but the exclusion of blood donations from men who have had sex with men ('cause i guess the heteros do it too), or even women who have had sex with gay men (yeah, iknow, that was weird for me too). so, technically without saying it, the red cross does marginalize and doesn't accept this type of donor because of their "high-risk activities" aka anal sex. honestly, it's a bunch of left over bull from the 80's-AIDS scare and it's honestly very stupid because the red cross tests all the blood anyways...so my point i guess is that definitely put a damper on my generosity for the day and they'll definitely hear about it next year at the next blood drive.

today, the California supreme court overturned the ban on gay marriage calling it unconstitutional! these people are my heros for today. no joke. it's now allowed an amendment to be formed granting the extension of marriage to gay couples living in the state of california. unfortunatly, the right wing has already gathered (and still is) enough signatures to create a constitutional amendment banning this action which would completely nullify this great feat. keep it up everyone, we're getting closer!

-Same-sex couples in California will now be able to obtain a civil marriage license and receive the same respect and protections afforded to all married couples.
-Churches and other religious institutions will not have to recognize or perform ceremonies for these civil marriages. This ruling is not about religion; it’s about the civil responsibilities and protections afforded through a government-issued civil marriage license.
-The court’s decision does not entitle same-sex couples in California to receive the federal rights and benefits extended to married couples. The so-called federal Defense of Marriage Act discriminates against same-sex married couples by denying them over 1,000 federal rights and benefits, including social security benefits, the ability to file a joint federal tax return, and the right to petition for a spouse to immigrate.
-Other states may legally recognize the civil marriages of same-sex couples performed in California in the same way they recognize out-of-state marriages by different-sex couples.

last saturday i went to my high school prom. granted it wasn't mine, but i went with my senior-friend Chandler who didn't have a date. we had loads of fun in the limo and dinner was good..can't say it was the best steak i've had, but definitely not airplane food. the complete downer of the evening, however was that the DJ was about..say...2 hours late! yeah. i've heard many rumors about it and it sounds like it wasn't completely his fault, but honestly i don't really care. i was robbed 2 hours of dancing and that's that. hahaha
but other than that, the only other thing was that some dumbass stole my freakin tie and i had to pay more money. oh well. that's what memories are made of.

so i was at this club in SanFran, dancing away as anyother time when all of a sudden and old lady falls from one of the stairways with all of her groceries, and, being the kind soul that i am, i of course go over to help her. However i didn't see the car that was to take the ability of getting dressed in less than 5 minutes, eating with both a fork and a knife or walking down a hallway with every other person asking me what happened. stop asking, i flipped off of my bike. and no, it was not graceful; voilà the splint and sling. <--thats the real story, btw.

so yes, its pathetic, and quite embarassing, nothing more to say except that you all should be proud that i typed this (and the last post) exclusivly with my left hand.

i've noticed i've become a lot more cynical...but maybe i'm just tired.

it's been a very interesting couple of weeks (as in roller-coaster-status)...i'm not really going to go into depth, but let's just say i have a memorial to go to next weekend for a recent death in the family. on a different side, i got a job a café here in down called Ciocolat, i'm a server/bus-boy/dishwasher/drinkmaker/etc. it's pretty cool, and i think i'll have fun! it's also spring break this week, so i've definitely been enjoying that, hanging with friends and the like!

so i got the new single today, and it's pretty good. it's not a groundbreaking song, but i've been having it on repeat all day, so it's pretty good. :D

so i traveled again to san fransico (i know...booo.hooo.)
but it was an especially nice trip because i got to go all the way to the emeryville station where my (now ex) Youth Council leader picked me up and took me to the meeting after we ran som errands together..it was really nice because it was his last day with us and i was able to spend and have some good convos with him (he such a nice guy and with great life stories)
anyways the meeting went great and he was able to take me back the the station after we dropped some other members off at their homes in berkley (which has some really cute neighberhoods ..if you didnt already know). so my day was full of independance (as my usual trips to sf are) and it was just overall very relaxed and enjoyable

although i am a little tired.

except from going from Psychology 1A to Psych 1B and Intermediate Fashion to Advanced Fashion (but they're both the same periods..so yeah)

so it's been pretty crazy in the little town of davis for the past couple of days
there's been MAJOR storms for the past to days and power has been down for a lot of the city (not here thankfully)
and also many trees have been uprooted and blown over..like BIG ones

so
i havent had the chace to really sit down and tell you about my YES conference experience
besides it being AMAZING i also had a lot of fun

so the speech with brandon and myself went pretty well..it was just about our homecoming experiences and showing the 300+ people there that they can make a difference in their own schools. as an ironic note, i thought it was interesting that before and during the speech that brandon was waaaayy more nervous than i was, and he's the one who performs in front of audiences..idk, not that it's a bad thing, just found it funny

anyways
the rest of the day was very nice
i attended a Gender&Sexuality workshop as well as a SaferSex one too. i also let a discussion period for both Central Valley and SoCal people and also did a workshop with my friends Whitney and Lyla on Anti-Slurs and what you can do in your schools to prevent that sort of stuff.

after that, i helped set up for the dance, and i helped the DJ set up (btw, he was quite funny..he had me make sure the leopard-print table cloth both looked pretty AND seemlessly flowed between the various pieces he had to cover up the music board and stands.. :D )
with amazing music pumping and everyone dancing..it was by far better than the Junior Prom that i was missing that night

ArtHistory feild trip

so today i went with my arthistory class to SanFrancisco (yet again) to go visit both the Leigon of Honor and the deYoung museums. we took the bus the long way there (across the golden gate bridge) and got to spend a fair amount of time at each place. it was really neat to see works of art that i recognized from the numerous books about our house and see them up close (especially the Picasso with the skull, leeks and pitcher) and i enjoyed the Rodin sculptures at the leigon. the deYoung was a really nice building and was creativly designed.
it was a great experience and i can't wait until our next feild trip in the spring: SF MoMA

sooo..like i said, i went to SanFrancisco on sunday to attend a GSA Network Youth Council meeting..little did i know that i would be automatically on the board when i walked in! Marco, the director of the council, asked me to be apart of it even before i turned in my application.
i felt pretty special
and everyone was really nice and i felt really confortable being around 12 or so complete strangers.
so we'll see what becomes of it, since ihave to attend a meeting once a mont in SF and i have no other way of getting down there besides paying 35$ for a train ticket
but other than that

yay for unconventional holidays!!
so instead of stressing over the basting of turkey and mashing potatoes and what type of stuffing everyone likes,
my family and i decided to head to san francisco for our thanksgiving. it was quite nice i must say..at first we went to this irish pub/resturant called O'Reily's, but then was discouraged when we found out the meal served that night was $39.99..per person.

yeah

so we walked a little ways down the street to a well-liked italians restaurant Mona Lisa and i had a chicken caesar salad
no one had anything remotely turkey-èsque

although, thanksgiving has to have some weird twist in it to make it complete.
priorly scheduled that morning,
we where going to go see my aunt,uncle&cousin along with my grandma who my parents haven't seen for..a while
it was nice to see them and everyone was very warm and welcoming
you're probably waiting for something to go wrong..but in the big picture, nothing did, so that's all good.
although i think the higlight of my evening was
not the light banter of cathing up with my aunt
nor the curses underscorerd with the USC football game (cliché iknow)
but the fact that my grandma of 70-something took a hit in Amsterdam during her 10 hour layover on her way to Ciro

that's pot i'm talking about

good for her though
i found it amusing

so that's my thanksgiving

so the other night i went over to one of my best friends house to help die her hair
she wanted to dye it blue..and was debating weather or not to dye it all blue or just the tips or something
i told her to go for the whole thing
our other friend who was there said the tips
but Allie wanted to dye the whole thing
so that's what we did
we bleached her hair and then comenced the coloration
it looks fantastique
and we had hella fun with some iPod speakes and fun music
